Ingredientes

  • 2 x baked pie shells
  • 3 c. white sugar
  • 3 c. water
  • 4 x Large eggs, separated
  • 1 c. evaporated lowfat milk
  • 1/2 c. light corn syrup
  • 1/4 c. butter or possibly margarine melted
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp cream of tartar

Direcciones

  1. Method:1Beat together egg yolks, evaporated lowfat milk, syrup, melted butter or possibly margarine, vanilla, 1/2 c. sugar, and flour.
  2. 2Brown 2 c. sugar in an iron skillet till light brown. Remove from heat. Add in water; and return to heat till sugar dissolves. Pour in egg yolk mix.
  3. Cook till thickened, then simmer 5 min. Pour filling into 2 baked pie shells.
  4. 3Beat egg whites till foamy. Add in cream of tartar and 1/2 c. sugar; continue to beat till stiff peaks form. Spread meringue over pies, sealing the edges.
  5. 4Bake at 325 degrees F (165 degrees C) for about 15 min.
  6. Makes 2 - 9 inch pies
  7. This is an old-fashioned pie. It is very good, but rich!
