Buttermilk White Sandwich Bread

Tried this recipe the other day and it turned out delicious.

Kneading is required.

Ingredientes

  • 3 1/2 C unbleached all purpose flour, plus a bit more.
  • 1/3 C hot water
  • 2 T butter
  • 3 T honey
  • 2 1/4 tsp. yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 C buttermilk
  • 2 tsp. salt

Direcciones

  1. Put water, butter and honey in a plastic mixing bowl and microwave until butter is melted.
  2. Pour in the buttermilk - the mixture should be cool to warm.
  3. Add the yeast, salt and flour.
  4. Mix well and then put the dough on a countertop or wherever you like to knead dough and do so for 8 minutes.
  5. If the dough is too wet as you knead, add a bit of flour at a time. You do not want a sticky or tacky dough. It should become elastic and smooth.
  6. Cover and let rise in a warm area until doubled, about 2 hours.
  7. Grease and flour a 9x5 bread pan.
  8. Shape the dough into a square, that when rolled up will fit in the pan.
  9. Let rise, covered, until doubled again, about 45-60 minutes.
  10. Have oven heated to 350 degrees when ready to bake.
  11. Bake 40-50 minutes, or until top is browned.
  12. Remove from the oven, let sit 5 minutes, then remove to a cooling rack.
  13. Let cool several hours before slicing.
  14. Store on counter for 2-3 days in a bread box or wrapped in a kitchen towel.
