Receta Cabbage Channa Dal Tikki - Light Snacks
by Nisha

When it comes to Tikkis, Aloo tikki is the first thing that comes to mind. I never thought any other veggie could be turned into a tikki until I stumbled upon this legendary Tarla Dalal's site. My search for using the excess Cabbage in a recipe other than the regular veggie curry or a kootu led me to this recipe - Cabbage Channa dal Tikki.

Addition of channa dal makes it taste more like a vada and unlike the regular ones you can have this without guilt, as these are pan fried. Even though, I have had cabbage and channa dal combination in kootu and kari, this dish brings out their combined flavour at best. Also the mint leaves and cumin powder make wonders in this dish by introducing a elegant flavour in our mouth.

The best way to enjoy this is with a hot cuppa cardamom ginger chai and a book in one hand. It might be pouring somewhere right now!!! Isn't it ?

Cabbage Channa Dal Tikki - Light Snacks

Cute round patties made of channa dal and cabbage. A healthy evening snack with a hot cuppa.

Prep Time: 10 Mins | Cook Time: 15 Mins | Total Time: 25 Mins | Yields: 9-10 Tikkis

Ingredients

Instructions

Grind the green chillies, shallots and channa dal coarsely. Do not add water unless it is absolutely necessary to grind it. Also sprinkle water if required.

Mix all the other ingredients with the ground mixture. Divide it equally into 10 balls and shape each like a patty.

Heat a griddle | skillet. Once it is hot, add the patties, drizzle oil around the edges of the patty. Cook on both sides until it turns brown on both sides.

Serve them hot with mint chutney and ketchup.

Notes

Add the besan flour depending on how wet the mixture is. If you feel its very sticky and you cant shape, add more flour or vice versa, adjust accordingly.
