Receta Cake Batter M&M Popcorn
We were supposed to go to an egg hunt this past weekend and unfortunately it was cancelled because of the cold weather. I had already purchased the Easter colored m&m’s for the eggs, so I thought why not use them in some sort of Easter treat! I had everything on hand to make this Cake Batter M&M Popcorn and thought it would be the perfect way to use up some of those m&m’s. It’s so festive and addictively delicious!! I seriously could not stay out of it!! Such a sweet little treat that would be perfect for parties or to give away as favors. Plus you can customize it with different colored m&m’s for different times of year too!

Ingredients:
- 6-7 cups popped popcorn
- 1 1/2 cups (approx. 12 oz.) almond bark
- 1/4 cup vegetable shortening
- 1 cup dry yellow cake mix
- approximately 1 to 1 1/4 cups m&ms
Directions:
Pop your popcorn and let cool a little. Pour into a very large bowl and set aside. Lay out a large sheet of wax or parchment paper on the counter.
In a microwave safe bowl, add almond bark and melt in 20 second increments, stirring between each, until melted and smooth.
Once melted, add shortening and stir until melted. If necessary microwave for 10 -15 seconds to melt completely. Add cake mix to the almond bark mixture and stir until incorporated.
Pour almond bark mixture over the popcorn and stir to coat. Add in m&m’s and stir to evenly distribute.
Pour mixture out onto the prepared wax paper and spread in an even layer. Let set until it fully hardens. Sort of break apart into little bites. Store in an airtight container.
Notes:
*This is easily halved or you can make in two batches to make the stirring a bit easier. I halved the recipe when I made it and used about 3 1/2 cups of stovetop popcorn.
*Can omit the m&m’s and add in sprinkles instead.
