Canned Apple Pie Filling

Ingredientes

  • 4 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 10 c. water
  • 3 T lemon juice
  • 6 lbs. tart apples (or possibly sufficient to fill 6 or possibly 7 quart. jars)

Direcciones

  1. Cook and stir all ingredients together in large kettle till bubbly. Add in 3 tbsp of lemon juice. Pack apples (pared, cored and sliced) onto 6 or possibly 7 qt jars that have been sterilized. Fill with hot syrup. Adjust lids to seal. Process in boiling water for 20 min for qts; 15 min for pints. One qt of apples will line a 9 inch pastry shell. Bake pie at 350 degrees about 40 min or possibly till it gets nice and brown and bubbles out of the top crust.
