Ingredientes

  • 2 pkt Active Dry Yeast
  • 1 c. Hot Water
  • 1 x Egg, room temperature
  • 6 c. (To 7) Sifted Flour
  • 1/3 c. Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Grnd Cardamom
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 c. Soft Butter Or possibly Shortening

Direcciones

  1. Sprinkle yeast on hot water; stir to dissolve. Blend in egg, 3 c. of flour, cardamom, sugar and salt. Beat with mixer at medium speed about 2 min til batter is smooth. Add in butter and sufficient remaining flour, a little at a time, first with spoon and then by hand, to make a fairly soft dough which leaves the sides fo the bowl. Turn onto lightly floured board.
  2. Knead til smooth and elastic ( 8 min). Place in greased bowl and turn over to grease top. Cover and let rise in hot place till doubled, about 1 hour. Punch down dough, turn over and let rest 10 min. Turn out onto board; divide dough in half. Shape into 2 loaves and place in greased loaf pans. Cover, let rise til doubled; bake at 400 degrees for 40 to 50 min, covering with foil during last 15 min to prevent browning too much. Remove from pans and cold on racks.
  3. NOTES : Makes excellent toast!!
