.%20Although%20it%20does%20contain%20a%20bit%20of%20pepper%20flavor,%20it%20also%20has%20a%20citrus%20note%20to%20it.%20Pink%20peppercorn%20is%20actually%20related%20to%20cashews%20(if%20you%20have%20a%20nut%20allergy,%20you%20may%20want%20to%20proceed%20with%20caution).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20recently%20had%20the%20opportunity%20to%20give%20this%20little%20gem%20a%20try%20and%20see%20what%20it's%20all%20about.%20After%20a%20quick%20company%20background%20and%20overview%20by%20the%20CEO,%20a%20group%20of%20us%20gathered%20around%20the%20kitchen%20and%20started%20playing.%20Cookies,%20muffins,%20both%20savory%20and%20sweet%20were%20made%20that%20evening.%20All%20were%20easy.%20All%20were%20tasty%20and%20all%20were%20deliciously%20fun!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20scale%20connects%20to%20your%20iPad%20via%20wifi.%20You%20select%20one%20of%20the%20many%20recipes%20from%20the%20app%20and%20do%20as%20it%20tells%20you.%20For%20example,%20%22place%20a%20large%20bowl%20on%20the%20scale%22,%20which%20it%20then%20promptly%20adjusts%20back%20to%20zero.%20%22Add%20a%20cup%20of%20flour%22.%20Rather%20than%20having%20to%20measure%20the%20flour,%20you%20pour%20it%20in%20and%20the%20app%20tells%20you%20when%20you've%20reached%201%20cup%20(based%20on%20weight%20rather%20than%20volume).%20Brilliant!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDrop%20will%20basically%20hold%20your%20hand%20as%20it%20walks%20you%20through%20the%20recipe,%20step%20by%20step.%20It%20includes%20videos%20and%20photos%20of%20what%20your%20progress%20should%20look%20like.%20It%20goes%20as%20far%20as%20including%20a%20timer,%20which%20you%20can%20program%20to%20alert%20your%20cellphone%20when%20your%20dish%20is%20done%20baking!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20love%20it!%20There's%20something%20a%20bit%20liberating%20about%20baking%20without%20doing%20the%20measuring.%20The%20only%20thing%20that%20really%20needs%20to%20be%20measured%20are%20small%20quantities%20such%20as%20teaspoons.%20I%20mean,%20the%20weight%20of%20a%20teaspoon%20of%20baking%20soda%20is%20almost%20non-existent,%20right?%20Totally%20understandable.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOh,%20I%20almost%20forgot%20another%20fun%20little%20%22plus%22.%20Baking%20can%20be%20messy.%20(no,%20it%20doesn't%20clean%20up%20after%20you)%20and%20who%20wants%20to%20touch%20their%20iPad%20screen%20with%20gooey%20fingers?%20No%20need%20with%20Drop!%20As%20you're%20going%20through%20the%20recipe%20steps,%20if%20you%20need%20to%20hit%20next....just%20press%20the%20front%20of%20the%20scale%20itself.%20Bingo!%20Much%20easier%20to%20clean%20the%20scale%20than%20the%20screen.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20you%20want%20to%20use%20the%20scale%20on%20it's%20own%20(without%20one%20of%20the%20recipes%20on%20the%20app),%20you%20can%20do%20so,%20but%20it%20will%20need%20to%20be%20communicating%20with%20your%20iPad.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo,%20I%20brought%20my%20cute%20little%20smart%20kitchen%20scale%20home,%20borrowed%20my%20friends%20iPad%20(ya....now%20I%20need%20an%20iPad.%20Seriously!)%20and%20started%20playing.%20And%20that's%20where%20these%20Chamomile%20and%20Pink%20Peppercorn%20Shortbread%20Cookies%20came%20in....%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EChamomile%20and%20Pink%20Peppercorn%20Shortbread%20Cookies%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20medium%20bowl,%20whisk%20together%20the%20flour,%20cornstarch,%20chamomile%20and%20pink%20peppercorn.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20to%20the%20creamed%20butter%20and%20sugar.%20Mix%20until%20dough%20forms.%20In%20this%20case,%20it's%20a%20dry%20dough....not%20like...say,%20your%20typical%20sugar%20cookie%20dough%20by%20any%20means.%20I%20tested%20the%20readiness%20by%20placing%20it%20in%20my%20hand%20and%20squeezing%20it%20to%20see%20if%20it%20would%20hold%20together.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWrap%20the%20dough%20in%20plastic%20wrap%20and%20chill%20in%20the%20fridge%20for%2030%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20the%20oven%20to%20340'%20F.%20Line%20a%20baking%20sheet%20with%20parchment%20paper.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOn%20a%20lightly%20floured%20surface%20roll%20the%20dough%20out%20to%20about%201/8th%20inch.%20If%20the%20edges%20split,%20just%20press%20them%20back%20together.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECut%20into%20desired%20shape%20(I%20used%20a%20knife%20and%20made%20simple%20rectangles).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EUsing%20a%20spatula,%20carefully%20transfer%20the%20cookies%20to%20the%20prepared%20baking%20sheet.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESprinkle%20with%20sugar.%20Bake%20for%20about%208%20minutes,%20or%20until%20the%20edges%20are%20a%20light%20golden%20color.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20light%20and%20delicate%20in%20both%20flavor%20and%20form.%20Fun%20to%20make%20and%20a%20delight%20to%20eat.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWith%20the%20holidays%20coming%20up,%20Drop%20would%20make%20the%20perfect%20gift%20for%20the%20new%20baker%20or%20even%20the%20experienced%20baker%20who%20has%20everything!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
