Ingredientes

  • 8 ounce Chana dhal
  • 1 tsp Turmeric
  • 1/4 tsp Salt (optional)
  • 2 x Green chilies, split Lengthwise
  • 1 Tbsp. Corn oil
  • 1 tsp Mustard seed
  • 1 med onion, finely sliced
  • 1 x Clove garlic, finely sliced
  • 1/2 tsp Cayenne pepper

Direcciones

  1. Wash peas in cool running water. When water runs clear set aside to soak for 4 hrs.
  2. Drain peas and put in sauce pan wit turmeric, salt, and green chilies. Add in sufficient water to cover by 1 inch, and bring to a boil.
  3. Partly cover pan, reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour or possibly till water has been absorbed and peas are tender but not mushy. Add in more water if necessary
  4. Meanwhile, heat corn oil in a skillet. Add in mustard seeds and cover pan. Saute/fry for 2 min.
  5. Uncover pan, add in onion and garlic, fry till golden brown. Stir in cayenne pepper and cook for 30 seconds. Add in cooked spices to the peas. Stir cook for 2 min. Serve warm.
