Ingredientes

  • 2 c. Sifted all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp Baking pwdr
  • 1/2 tsp Baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 3 lrg Egg yolks
  • 1/2 c. Melted butter
  • 1 1/2 c. Lowfat milk
  • 1 c. (4 ounces) shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 3 x Egg whites
  • 1 c. Maple syrup
  • 1 whl bay leaf
  • 1/4 tsp Grnd thyme

Direcciones

  1. WAFFLES: Preheat waffle iron. Preheat oven to 200 to keep waffles hot before serving.
  2. Sift flour, baking pwdr, baking soda and salt into a mixing bowl. In another bowl, combine egg yolks, melted and cooled butter and lowfat milk. Stir liquid and dry ingredients together; add in cheese.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat egg whites till stiff. Fold into batter till barely blended. Spoon batter into waffle iron, covering about two-thirds of the grid surface. Cook according to manufacture's instructions.
  4. Place waffles into heated oven, uncovered, till ready to serve. This recipe makes about 4 servings.
  5. SAVORY SYRUP: Place ingredients in a heavy saucepan. Stir and heat till boiling. Lower heat and simmer about 5 min. Remove bay leaf and pour over waffles.
