Cheese and Herb Garlic Biscuits
I decided it was time to update my basic Cheese Garlic Biscuit recipe.
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup of butter, plus 1 tablespoon
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 3/4 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup milk
Adjust oven rack to middle lower position and preheat oven to 450°.
Whisk flour, baking powder and salt together. Then cut in the 1/3 cup of butter with a pastry cutter, a fork or your fingers until the mixture appears pebble like. Add the garlic powder, dried herd and cheese; mix until well combine. Carefully stir in the milk. Do not over mix the dough.
Drop the biscuits only a cookie sheet and bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown on top.
While the biscuits are baking melt the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter. When the biscuits are down baking spread the melted butter over the top of the biscuits with a pastry brush.
Enjoy!
