- Shallots / sambar onions â 1 handful
- Tomato â 2
- Asafetida â 2 pinch
- Mustard seeds â ½ tsp
- Fenugreek seeds â ¼ tsp
- Chana dal â 1 tsp
- Dry whole red chilli - 4
- Chillli powder â 2 tsp
- Turmeric powder â ½ tsp
- Curry leaves â 1 sprig
- Gingelly Oil â ¼ cup
- Salt â to taste
- To Grind to a paste:
- Onion â 1 (medium size)
- Coriander seeds â 1 tbsp
- Urad dal â 1 tsp
- Dry red chillies â 6
- Fresh grated coconut â ¼ cup
- Poppy seeds / khus-khus â 2 tsp
