%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt's%20quite%20different%20than%20the%20usual%20chicken%20pie.%20%20First%20of%20all%20you%20don't%20make%20a%20gravy.%20%20You%20just%20make%20your%20pastry%20and%20line%20a%20nine%20inch%20pie%20tin%20with%20half%20of%20it.%20%20Then%20you%20begin%20layering%20.%20.%20.%20shredded%20chicken%20on%20the%20bottom,%20thinly%20sliced%20potatoes,%20mixed%20cooked%20vegetables%20.%20.%20.%20%20with%20a%20mixture%20of%20flour,%20garlic,%20herbs%20and%20seasoning%20between%20each%20layer%20.%20.%20.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThen%20you%20pour%20some%20chicken%20stock%20down%20over%20it%20all,%20cover%20it%20with%20the%20top%20crust%20and%20bake%20it%20until%20the%20whole%20thing%20is%20golden%20brown%20and%20that%20stock%20has%20melded%20with%20that%20chicken%20and%20those%20vegetables%20with%20the%20seasoned%20flour%20to%20make%20a%20wonderful%20gravy%20that%20permeates%20the%20whole%20thing.%20%20%20Actually%20the%20herbs%20were%20my%20idea.%20%20%20The%20original%20recipe%20only%20called%20for%20seasoned%20flour.%20%20I%20added%20the%20onions,%20garlic,%20and%20other%20bits.%20%20It%20worked%20really,%20REALLY%20well!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYou%20could%20just%20use%20frozen%20mixed%20vegetables%20if%20you%20wanted,%20but%20I%20like%20to%20cook%20my%20own%20because%20I%20love%20swede%20and%20parsnips%20.%20.%20.%20%20and%20they%20don't%20come%20in%20a%20frozen%20vegetable%20mix.%20%20The%20whole%20thing%20was%20quite%20delicious%20and%20made%20a%20really%20wonderful%20pot%20pie.%20%20I%20am%20thinking%20my%20Canadian%20friends%20could%20use%20some%20of%20their%20leftover%20turkey%20to%20make%20it%20too.%20%20That%20would%20be%20fab!%20%20%20In%20any%20case,%20do%20give%20it%20a%20go,%20I%20think%20you'll%20love%20it!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E*Layered%20Chicken%20Pot%20Pie*%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMakes%20one%209%20inch%20pie%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Epot%20pie%20is%20unusual%20in%20that%20you%20layer%20the%20ingredients%20in%20the%20pie%20crust,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Esprinkling%20a%20herbed%20flour%20mixture%20in%20between%20the%20layers%20and%20pouring%20some%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Echicken%20stock%20over%20top%20prior%20to%20topping%20with%20a%20top%20crust.%20%20It's%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Edelicious%20and%20cuts%20out%20that%20step%20of%20having%20to%20make%20a%20gravy%20or%20cream%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Esauce.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPastry%20for%20a%20two%20crust%20deep%20pie%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Edown.%20%20%20Drain%20well%20before%20using.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20the%20oven%20to%20200*C/4))*F/%20gas%20mark%206.%20%20Have%20ready%20a%20baking%20tray%20lined%20with%20foil.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERoll%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eout%20the%20bottom%20of%20your%20pastry.%20%20Use%20it%20to%20line%20a%209%20inch%20deep%20pie%20dish.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMix%20together%20the%20flour,%20sage,%20thyme,%20parsley,%20garlic%20powder,%20onion%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Epowder%20and%20salt%20and%20black%20pepper%20to%20taste.%20%20Place%20the%20shredded%20chicken%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eon%20the%20bottom%20of%20the%20dish.%20%20Cover%20with%20a%20layer%20of%20potato%20and%20half%20of%20the%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Evegetables%20sprinkling%20each%20layer%20with%20a%20portion%20of%20the%20flour%20mixture.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERepeat%20with%20a%20layer%20of%20potato,%20the%20remaining%20vegetables%20and%20a%20final%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Elayer%20of%20potato,%20again%20sprinkling%20each%20layer%20with%20the%20flour%20mixture,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Euntil%20it%20is%20all%20gone.%20%20Pour%20the%20chicken%20stock%20over%20top.%20%20%20Roll%20out%20the%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eother%20half%20of%20the%20pastry%20and%20cover%20the%20top%20of%20the%20pie%20with%20this.%20%20Trim%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eand%20crimp%20the%20edges%20all%20the%20way%20around.%20%20Cut%20a%20few%20slits%20in%20the%20top%20for%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eventing%20and%20place%20the%20filled%20pie%20on%20the%20baking%20sheet.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBake%20the%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Epie%20in%20the%20ehated%20oven%20for%2045%20minutes%20to%20an%20hour,%20until%20golden%20brown%20and%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ethe%20potatoes%20are%20tender.%20%20%20Allow%20to%20stand%20for%20about%2010%20minutes%20before%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ecutting%20into%20wedges%20to%20serve.%20%20Serve%20hot.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
