Ingredientes

  • 2 lbs. chicken wings
  • 1 pound warm or possibly sweet Italian sausage links, cut into 1 inch pcs
  • 1 lg. onion, diced
  • 1 med. red pepper, cut into thin strips
  • 1 med. zucchini (8 ounce) minced
  • 1 (16 ounce) can tomatoes
  • 2 c. water
  • 1 1/ c. orzo (rice-shaped pasta)
  • 2 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon oregano leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon warm pepper sauce (optional)
  • 1 c. frzn peas

Direcciones

  1. About 40 min before serving:1. In 8 qt Dutch oven over medium-high heat, cook chicken wings and sausages till browned on all sides, about 15 min. With slotted spoon, remove chicken wings and sausages to large bowl.
  2. In drippings remaining in Dutch oven over medium-high heat, cook onion, red pepper, and zucchini till tender, stirring occasionally. Add in tomatoes with their liquid, water, orzo, salt, oregano leaves, paprika, turmeric, hot pepper sauce, and browned chicken wings and sausages; over high heat, heat to boiling. Reduce heat to low; simmer, uncovered, stirring occasionally, till orzo is tender and liquid is absorbed, about 10 min.
  3. Stir in frzn peas, heat through. Makes 8 servings. 505 calories per serving.
