Ingredientes

  • 1 c. Chick peas
  • 1 tsp Baking pwdr (soda)
  • 2 x Minced onions
  • 4 Tbsp. Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin
  • 1 pch Cinnamon
  • 1 pch Black pepper
  • 1 pch Grnd cloves
  • 1 pch Tumeric
  • 2 x Minced tomatoes

  1. This is one I like from "The Joy of Israel" that my mom picked up for me in (you guessed it) Israel. The authors give credit to the Oriental Jews arriving in Israel from countries where meat is scarce.
  2. Soak chick peas several hrs in water to cover. Put in saucepan with baking pwdr (I used soda), add in more water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer till tender. Brown onions in oil in a medium saucepan. Add in all the remaining ingredients and continue cooking till well browned. Add in chick peas, stirring well. cover pan and cook for five min more. This may be served instead of meat.
