Receta Chire Doi Aam | Sweetened Rice flakes - Tripura Breakfast with a twist
This is yet another Poha recipe with a sweet twist from the last of the North east states that we cover this month - Tripura. Since this state has a significant Bengali population and not much Tripuri recipes available, I decided to make this. It is like uncooked poha (rice flakes) porridge with yoghurt and mango. Simple and versatile, you can dress up this recipe as you like. Mango can be substituted with any local in season fruits.
This dish can also satiate your sweet tooth when you are craving for and have no time for a proper dessert. What is not to like about Mango and yoghurt.
Chire Doi Aam - Tripura Breakfast with a twist
Rice flakes yoghurt porridge with mango and cardamom and nuts.
Prep time: 10 mins | Total time: 10 Mins | Serves: 2
Ingredients
- 2 Cups Poha
- 1 Cup Curd | Yoghurt
- 1/2 Cup Mango Pulp or (1 Cup chopped mangoes)
- Sugar or Jaggery to taste
- 1/4 tsp Cardamom Powder
- 1/4 Cup Crushed nuts (Pistachios, almonds etc..)
Instructions
Soak poha in water for about 5 minutes. Drain the water. Mix it with the rest of the ingredients. Top it with nuts and serve.
Notes
The soaking time of the poha depends on the variety you have. If it is thick flakes, it might even take more time or if it is thin, just sprinkle water to moisten it. The flakes should be moistened.
In the original recipe, chopped mangoes were added. Since I had mango pulp in excess, I used this.
