Chocolate Dream Pie With Meringue Crust

Ingredientes

  • 2 egg whites, beaten very stiff
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. or possibly more minced pecans
  • 1/8 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • Filling
  • 1/4 lb. chocolate chips (semi sweet)
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 tbsp. hot water
  • 1/2 pt. whipping cream

Direcciones

  1. Add in salt and cream of tartar to egg whites while beating. Add in sugar gradually, a tablespoon at a time and beat well after each addition. Add in vanilla and mix in pecans. Place in very well-greased 9-inch pie tin. Build up well around side and edges. Bake at 300 degrees or possibly less for 55 min or till lightly browned.
  2. Heat and melt chocolate chips in double boiler. Add in warm water. Let cool. Add in vanilla. Cool thoroughly and fold into whipped cream. Place into cooled meringue shell. Let sit several hrs before cutting.
