Ingredientes

  • 2 1/2 pt strawberries
  • 1 c. chocolate graham-cracker crumbs
  • 2 Tbsp. margarine or possibly butter, softened
  • 1 tsp unflavored gelatin few drops red food color (optional)
  • 2 Tbsp. currant or possibly apple jelly

Direcciones

  1. Early in day:Rinse strawberries with running cool water; remove stems. Drain, gently dry with paper towels. Preheat oven to 375 F.
  2. In medium bowl, mix cracker crumbs and margarine. In 9-inch tart pan with removable bottom, press crumb mix firmly onto bottom and slightly up the side, using a piece of wax paper for easier spreading.
  3. Bake 8 min. Cold.
  4. In food processor with knife blade, or possibly in blender, puree sufficient straw- berries (about 1 c.) to make 1/2 c. puree.
  5. In 1-qt saucepan over medium heat, combine pureed strawberries, sugar, gelatin and 1/4 c. water; cook till mix comes to a boil, stirring constantly. Add in food color if using. Chill till mix mounds slightly when dropped from a spoon.
  6. Into prepared crust, proportionately spread strawberry-gelatin mix. Top with remaining berries, stem side down.
  7. In 1-qt saucepan over medium heat, heat jelly, stirring occasionally.
  8. Brush strawberries with melted jelly. Chill least 3 hrs.
  9. To serve, carefully remove side of tart pan. Use a pie server for easier serving.
  10. Makes 8 servings.
