Receta Chocolate Sugar Cookies
by brady evans

My husband and I are new to our neighborhood. I don’t think most people pay much attention to those moving in and out of the area most of the time. We, however, came in with two very significant additions to the neighborhood.

We are the only ones in our neighborhood who own horses and since the neighborhood streets surround our farm on four sides, everyone is aware of the huge, new additions to the landscape. Needless to say, we may not know everyone in the neighborhood, but everyone knows us. Or the horses.

So, we were invited to a neighborhood wide Memorial Day party and naturally I thought it was appropriate to bring a dish to share. I chose a dessert because they are crowd pleasers. Moreover, sugar cookies allowed me to customize the shapes so that there was no doubt who showed up with them!

I encourage you all to use sugar cookies as a method for conveying your personalities as well.

Instructions

Preheat oven at 350 degrees.

Whisk flour, salt and baking powder in bowl and set aside.

Mix butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla and cocoa in mixer until smooth, about 1 minute.

Gradually add flour mixture, and mix until combined fully. Wrap in plastic and chill for at least one hour.

Roll out cookie dough on floured counter. Cut into desired shapes.

Bake on a parchment-lined baking sheet for 8 to 11 minutes (the former for 1/8-inch thick cookies, the latter for 1/4-inch cookies) until the edges are firm and the centers are slightly soft and puffed.

Transfer to a wire rack to cool.
