Cinnamon Poppy Seed Cake

Ingredientes

  • 2 c. Sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. Grnd cinnamon
  • 2 1/2 c. All-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp Baking pwdr
  • 1 tsp Baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 c. Unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 2 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 4 lrg Large eggs, separated
  • 1 c. Buttermilk
  • 6 Tbsp. Poppy seeds

Direcciones

  1. Preheat oven to 350. Generously butter 12 c. Bundt pan. Combine 1/2 c. sugar and cinnamon in small bowl. Sift flour, baking pwdr, baking soda and salt into medium bowl.
  2. Using electric mixer, beat butter and vanilla in large bowl till fluffy.
  3. Gradually add in 1 c. sugar, beating till mix is smooth. Beat in egg yolks 1 at a time. Fold in flour mix alternately with buttermilk in 3 additions each. Mix in poppy seeds.
  4. In medium bowl, whisk egg whites till foamy. Gradually add in remaining 1/2 c. sugar, beating. Fold whites into batter in 2 additions.
  5. Spoon half of cake batter into prepared pan. Sprinkle with half of cinnamon sugar. Spoon remaining batter over. Sprinkle with remaining cinnamon sugar.
  6. Bake cake till tester inserted near center comes out clean, about 50 min. Cold cake in pan on rack 10 min. Turn cake out onto rack and cold completely.
