Nothing is better than getting together with friends and family {most of them anyway} for a backyard bash during the hot grilling season of summer. It feels great to connect with the ones that we love and share quality time together. Now, before you start thinking I am getting all sappy with this post - you just hold on. One thing I've learned about family is this: they can't all agree, all the time. For the most part everyone can be harmonious and still live peaceful together, even through varying points of view. But boy, there is something about the high-rising temperatures that can make even the most accepting and patient person a little on edge. A little irritable, let's say. My secret {and pre-emptive} weapon against these possible heat-crazed situations from arising - serve cold drinks and keep those glasses full!!
To keep my guests cool this upcoming weekend, we will be serving these Coconut-Cherry Dr Pepper Floats. The floats are cold, creamy, sweet and best of all - made at home, with little time and minimal effort. Coconut and cherry are two of my favorite flavors from the summer months and they taste absolutely delightful with Dr Pepper. I mixed the Dr Pepper with coconut cream and grenadine, topped with cherry ice cream and then garnished with toasted coconut and of course, more cherries.
Remember: keep your guests cool, thus keeping them happy. Let my life lessons teach you - be a marvelous host and make sure everyone has a chilled drink. When I say chilled, I mean a frosted mug full of ice cold Dr Pepper that has froth running down the side of it from the huge scoop of cherry ice cream you just plopped on top. Trust me, this Coconut-Cherry Dr Pepper Float will create smiles. And smiles are contagious. :)
I found the cute little 12oz Dr Pepper bottles at my local Walmart. Pretty much every Dr Pepper need can be filled here, regular or diet fans alike! Wait until you get home to make the float though, no matter how enticing it may be.
