- 1 cup – Rice flour / Arisi maavu
- 1/4 cup – Whole black gram without skin / ulunthu /urad dal
- 2 tbsp – Roasted bengal gram / pottukadalai
- 1 cup or as needed – Thick coconut milk
- 1/4 tsp – Cumin seeds / jeera
- 1 1/2 tbsp – Butter
- 2 to 3 pinches – Asafoetida
- Salt to taste
