Receta Coconut Strawberry Banana Smoothie
Wow! That’s a long name right, but totally delicious. This month, We, The Gourmet Seven chose to celebrate the Sun and Summer and tackle the heat with some really cool beverages and we raided Epicurious with full zest. My! what cool stuff the site has got and I chose this smoothie as we, at home love smoothies very much. Ever since I made this 2 weeks ago the people at home got quite addicted to this and I have been making every week ends since then.
Coconut Strawberry Banana Smoothie
You’ll need:
- Strawberries – 10 - 12
- Banana – 1
- Sugar / Honey – 4 to 5 tbsp
- Chilled Milk – 1 cup
- To make Coconut milk:
- Grated fresh coconut – 1/2 cup
- Warm water – 1/4 cup
Method:
To make Coconut milk: Grind the grated coconut with 5 tbsp of water in a food processor. Tap into a fine meshed sieve or into a cheese cloth and give it a good squeeze to extract thick milk. Transfer the contents again to the processor, add the remaining water and repeat the process to extract more milk. Refrigerate till use.
Place the Strawberries, banana and sugar or honey in a blender and run till the contents are mashed. Add chilled milk and coconut milk and blend till all the contents get blended well.
Pour into glasses and serve chilled.
Though you can use canned coconut milk, I chose to make the milk fresh, as both flavor and taste wise it will taste better. I was not let down and what a creamy and yummy smoothie this one turned out to be. The coconut flavor dominated the whole smoothie and this is the first time I’m trying out a smoothie with coconut milk. Yummmmm... I can still feel the taste of it.
Notes:
Do not add ice cubes as it will water down the smoothie.
Instead use frozen fruits and cold milk for a chilled smoothie on a real hot day.
Do not use over ripe banana for this smoothie. The banana has to be ripe but firm.
By all means use canned coconut milk cream to reduce time and effort.
Use yogurt instead of coconut milk if you do not have at hand.
