.%20I%20still%20won%E2%80%99t%20sit%20down%20and%20drink%20a%20cup%20of%20hot%20coffee,%20but%20last%20summer%20I%20officially%20jumped%20on%20the%20iced%20(and%20sweetened)%20coffee%20bandwagon.%20As%20for%20doughnuts%E2%80%A6%20they%E2%80%99re%20still%20not%20my%20favorite%20pastry%20or%20sweet%20treat,%20but%20I%E2%80%99ll%20definitely%20enjoy%20one%20every%20now%20and%20then%20given%20the%20opportunity.%20I%20was%20totally%20inspired%20by%20the%20combination%20of%20coffee%20and%20doughnut%20flavors%20after%20seeing%20Jessica%20make%20this%20milkshake,%20and%20then%20seeing%20a%20similar%20concoction%20in%20Donna%20Hay%20magazine.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20infused%20ice%20cream%20custard%20with%20coffee%20beans%20(decaf!)%20and%20glazed%20doughnuts,%20then%20churned%20it%20and%20threw%20another%20doughnut%20in%20for%20good%20measure.%20Oh%20my%20goodness,%20yes!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20some%20reason,%20coffee%20tastes%20approximately%20one%20bazillion%20times%20better%20to%20me%20when%20it%E2%80%99s%20cold%20and%20sufficiently%20sweetened.%20Go%20figure.%20Sugar%20and%20cream%20for%20the%20win!%20I%20love%20the%20subtle%20flavor%20of%20the%20doughnuts,%20and%20the%20little%20chunks%20that%20you%20get%20in%20the%20finished%20ice%20cream.%20I%20used%20regular%20glazed%20doughnuts%20for%20this%20recipe,%20which%20I%20think%20imparts%20the%20most%20classic%20doughnut%20flavor,%20but%20if%20you%20have%20a%20different%20favorite,%20by%20all%20means,%20use%20it!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20you%20like%20hot%20coffee%20and%20doughnuts,%20I%20think%20you%E2%80%99re%20going%20to%20love%20them%20just%20as%20much%20in%20frozen%20form!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOne%20year%20ago:%20Blueberry%20Crumb%20Bars%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETwo%20years%20ago:%20Frozen%20Hot%20Chocolate%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThree%20years%20ago:%20Chocolate%20Chip%20Cookie%20Dough%20Brownies%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFour%20years%20ago:%20Homemade%20Pop-Tarts%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFive%20years%20ago:%20Better-than-Brownies%20Chocolate%20Cookies%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECoffee%20and%20Doughnuts%20Ice%20Cream%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYield:%201%20quart%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPrep%20Time:%208%20hours%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETotal%20Time:%2012%20hours%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIce%20cream%20infused%20with%20coffee%20beans%20and%20glazed%20doughnuts,%20and%20churned%20with%20more%20fresh%20doughnuts.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDirections:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1.%20Warm%20the%20milk,%20sugar,%20whole%20coffee%20beans,%202%20doughnuts,%20salt,%20and%20%C2%BD%20cup%20of%20the%20cream%20in%20a%20medium%20saucepan.%20Once%20the%20mixture%20is%20warm,%20cover,%20remove%20from%20the%20heat,%20and%20let%20steep%20at%20room%20temperature%20for%201%20hour.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2.%20Rewarm%20the%20coffee-infused%20milk%20mixture.%20Pour%20the%20remaining%201%20cup%20cream%20into%20a%20large%20bowl%20and%20set%20a%20mesh%20strainer%20on%20top.%20In%20a%20separate%20medium%20bowl,%20whisk%20together%20the%20egg%20yolks.%20Slowly%20pour%20the%20warm%20coffee%20mixture%20into%20the%20egg%20yolks,%20whisking%20constantly,%20then%20scrape%20the%20warmed%20egg%20yolks%20back%20into%20the%20saucepan.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E3.%20Stir%20the%20mixture%20constantly%20over%20medium%20heat%20with%20a%20heatproof%20spatula,%20scraping%20the%20bottom%20as%20you%20stir,%20until%20the%20mixture%20thickens%20and%20coats%20the%20spatula%20(and%20registers%20170%20degrees%20F%20on%20an%20instant-read%20thermometer).%20Pour%20the%20custard%20through%20the%20strainer%20and%20stir%20it%20into%20the%20cream.%20Press%20on%20the%20coffee%20beans%20and%20doughnuts%20in%20the%20strainer%20to%20extract%20as%20much%20of%20the%20coffee%20flavor%20as%20possible,%20then%20discard%20the%20beans%20and%20doughnut%20remnants.%20Mix%20in%20the%20vanilla%20and%20stir%20until%20cool%20over%20an%20ice%20bath.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E4.%20Chill%20the%20mixture%20thoroughly%20in%20the%20refrigerator,%20then%20freeze%20it%20in%20your%20ice%20cream%20maker%20according%20to%20the%20manufacturer's%20instructions,%20adding%20the%20remaining%20chopped%20doughnut%20during%20the%20last%20few%20minutes%20of%20churning.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
