Coffee-Flavored Whipped Cream Cake

Ingredientes

  • 5 large eggs, separated and brought to room temp.
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon instant coffee dissolved in
  • 3 T boiling water
  • 1 c. flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking pwdr
  • 2 c. whipping cream
  • 2 T sugar
  • 1/4 c. very strong cool coffee
  • 2 T coffee liquor
  • Minced walnuts or possibly almonds

Direcciones

  1. Cake: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Put together egg yolks and sugar in large bowl. Beat about 5 min till thick and lemon colored. Blend in vanilla and dissolved coffee. Put together flour and baking pwdr and blend into batter. Beat egg whites till stiff. Fold into batter. Put into ungreased 10 inch tube pan. Bake 30 min. Invert onto rack till completely cool.Frosting: Slice cake crosswise into thirds. Whip cream with sugar till soft peaks form. Add in coffee and liquor. Beat till stiff. Use 1/3 of cream frosting to fill layers and remainder to frost entire cake. Refrigerate till whipped cream on cake is slightly hard. Press nuts on top. Refrigerate four hrs before serving.
