%20not%20to%20mention%20the%20electric%20hand%20held%20beater%20or%20even%20a%20balloon%20whisk.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20service%20apartment%20that%20we%20are%20staying%20comes%20with%20a%20handsome%20built-in%20oven,%20it%20makes%20my%20tiny%20tabletop%20oven%20at%20home%20seems%20so%20miserable.%20It%20would%20really%20be%20a%20shame%20if%20I%20am%20not%20able%20to%20do%20some%20baking%20with%20my%20dream%20oven.%20To%20my%20delight,%20I%20chanced%20upon%20boxes%20of%20Betty%20Crockers%20at%20this%20little%20gourmet%20store%20near%20our%20apartment.%20Without%20much%20thinking,%20I%20grabbed%20a%20pack%20of%20chocolate%20peanut%20butter%20chips%20cookie%20mix.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%20was%20only%20after%20I%20got%20home%20that%20I%20realised%20there%20is%20no%20measuring%20cup%20in%20the%20apartment's%20kitchen.%20Since%20I%20have%20no%20intention%20to%20go%20hunt%20for%20a%20measuring%20cup,%20I%20had%20to%20think%20of%20a%20way%20to%20measure%20the%20amount%20of%20oil%20required%20to%20make%20the%20cookies.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%20happened%20that%20I%20bought%20a%20pack%20of%20250ml%20whipping%20cream%20to%20cook%20some%20cream%20sauce%20pasta,%20so%20I%20used%20the%20empty%20carton%20as%20a%20reference%20and%20was%20glad%20to%20discover%20that%20the%20volume%20of%20one%20of%20the%20mugs%20is%20exactly%20250ml.%20But,%20that%20didn't%20solve%20the%20problem%20altogether,%20the%20recipe%20calls%20for%201/3%20cup%20of%20oil.%20So%20I%20poured%20one%20cup%20of%20water%20equally%20into%203%20paper%20cups%20and%20made%20a%20marking%20on%20one%20of%20them.%20Voila!%20I%20made%20my%20own%20measuring%20cup%20:)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20stir%20up%20a%20batch%20of%20cookies%20from%20a%20box%20is%20so%20simple,%20quick,%20and%20very%20convenient%20especially%20when%20there%20are%20no%20basic%20baking%20tools%20on%20hand.%20I%20only%20need%20to%20mix%20some%20water,%20oil%20and%20an%20egg%20with%20the%20powder%20mix,%20and%20in%20a%20matter%20of%20minutes,%20I%20was%20able%20to%20pop%20a%20tray%20of%20cookie%20doughs%20into%20the%20oven.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhile%20the%20cookies%20were%20baking%20in%20the%20oven,%20I%20suddenly%20remembered%20that%20there%20was%20no%20cooling%20rack%20in%20the%20apartment.%20At%20that%20point%20in%20time,%20to%20end%20up%20with%20a%20tray%20of%20soggy%20cookies%20would%20be%20unthinkable.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAfter%20some%20quick%20thinking,%20I%20came%20up%20with%20my%20improvised%20cooking%20rack...a%20set%20of%20chopsticks%20which%20I%20brought%20along%20came%20in%20handy!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhile%20the%20cookies%20were%20cooling%20off,%20the%20boys%20couldn't%20resist%20the%20sweet%20aroma,%20so%20they%20kept%20'wondering'%20into%20the%20small%20kitchen,%20hoping%20to%20steal%20a%20cookie%20from%20my%20'cooling%20rack'.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20the%20rest%20of%20the%20week,%20I%20was%20able%20to%20enjoy%20my%20afternoon%20cup%20of%20coffee%20with%20some%20homemade%20cookies.%20They%20are%20not%20as%20bad%20as%20I%20thought.%20In%20fact,%20I%20didn't%20expect%20them%20to%20taste%20so%20good...crunchy%20on%20the%20outside%20and%20a%20little%20soft%20in%20the%20inside,%20way%20better%20than%20those%20I%20had%20tasted%20at%20some%20cafes.%20These%20are%20just%20a%20little%20on%20the%20sweet%20side,%20but%20once%20I%20dunk%20it%20into%20my%20cup%20of%20latte,%20the%20sweetness%20was%20just%20right.%20Till%20we%20get%20back%20home,%20I%20must%20say%20I%20am%20very%20satisfied%20with%20these%20homemade%20cookies,%20from%20a%20box.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
