.%20When%20I%20first%20stepped%20into%20the%20kitchen,%20there%20was%20SO%20much%20I%20didn%E2%80%99t%20know.%20And%20I%20am%20still%20a%20complete%20novice%20some%20days,%20but%20I%E2%80%99ve%20definitely%20learned%20some%20things%20over%20the%20years.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBut%20I%20don%E2%80%99t%20want%20to%20just%20be%20giving%20out%20tips%20and%20tricks%20%E2%80%93%20I%20want%20you%20to%20share%20yours,%20too!%20Maybe%20your%20approach%20for%20a%20certain%20dish%20or%20food%20is%20the%20complete%20opposite%20of%20how%20I%20work.%20Tell%20me%20about%20it!%20Anything%20that%20helps%20in%20the%20kitchen%20is%20always%20good%20to%20know,%20especially%20if%20it%20saves%20time%20and%20the%20amount%20of%20dirty%20dishes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20start,%20I%20thought%20it%20would%20be%20good%20to%20talk%20about%20making%20pizza%20at%20home.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGrowing%20up,%20I%20never%20thought%20you%20could%20make%20a%20pizza%20at%20home%20that%20could%20rival%20good%20restaurant%20pizza.%20But%20I%20think%20we%E2%80%99ve%20got%20it%20figured%20out!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20our%20homemade%20pizzas,%20the%20three%20most%20important%20things%20are:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20good,%20homemade%20dough%20recipe%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHigh%20baking%20temperature%20(475-500%20degrees)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFreshly%20shredded%20cheese%20(i.e.,%20NOT%20pre-shredded%20cheese)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%E2%80%99m%20a%20big%20fan%20of%20mixing%20up%20our%20own%20pizza%20dough,%20mostly%20because%20everything%20I%E2%80%99ve%20found%20that%E2%80%99s%20premade%20just%20doesn%E2%80%99t%20taste%20good.%20And%20even%20though%20most%20people%20eat%20pizza%20for%20the%20toppings,%20the%20crust%20should%20be%20just%20as%20good%20as%20the%20cheese%20and%20sauce,%20if%20not%20better!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20bonus!%20The%20crust%20recipe%20below%20makes%20enough%20for%202%20pizzas.%20If%20you%E2%80%99re%20not%20ready%20to%20make%20two%20pizzas,%20you%20can%20throw%20the%20other%20half%20of%20the%20dough%20into%20the%20freezer%20so%20that%20it%E2%80%99s%20ready%20and%20waiting%20for%20you%20later.%20Or%20just%20keep%20it%20in%20the%20fridge%20for%20a%20few%20days%20and%20use%20it%20later%20in%20the%20week.%20It%E2%80%99s%202%20meals%20out%20of%20one%20recipe!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAs%20for%20the%20cheese,%20we%20used%20to%20get%20the%20bagged,%20pre-shredded%20cheese.%20I%20mean,%20it%20IS%20easier!%20It%E2%80%99s%20already%20shredded!%20But,%20with%20the%20bagged%20cheese,%20we%20were%20NEVER%20able%20to%20get%20it%20to%20bubble%20and%20brown%20on%20the%20pizza,%20even%20when%20baking%20on%20this%20high%20of%20a%20temperature.%20That%E2%80%99s%20because%20the%20bagged%20cheese%20is%20tossed%20with%20flour%20and/or%20other%20ingredients%20to%20keep%20it%20from%20clumping%20together.%20Just%20changing%20to%20block%20cheese%20and%20shredding%20it%20ourselves%20made%20our%20pizzas%20100%25%20better%20%E2%80%93%20it%E2%80%99s%20so%20much%20more%20satisfying%20to%20see%20a%20pizza%20coming%20out%20of%20the%20oven%20with%20golden,%20bubbly%20cheese!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhat%20are%20your%20favorite%20homemade%20pizza%20tricks?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20there's%20one%20thing%20I%20think%20everyone%20should%20know%20how%20to%20make,%20it's%20homemade%20pizza%20dough.%20It%20makes%20such%20a%20difference%20compared%20to%20using%20a%20storebought/prebaked%20crust,%20and%20it's%20really%20not%20that%20much%20work!%20You%20can%20mix%20this%20up%20in%20seconds%20in%20the%20morning,%20and%20you%20let%20it%20work%20while%20you%20go%20about%20your%20day.%20It%20really%20can't%20get%20much%20easier%20than%20that.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDirections:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20large%20bowl,%20mix%20the%20water,%20salt,%20and%20yeast%20together.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStir%20in%20the%20flour%20until%20you%20have%20a%20shaggy%20dough.%20Knead%20a%20few%20times%20with%20your%20hands%20-%20either%20on%20a%20flat%20surface%20or%20in%20the%20bowl%20(your%20choice!)%20-%20until%20all%20the%20flour%20is%20incorporated.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECover%20the%20bowl%20with%20plastic%20wrap%20and%20let%20it%20sit%20at%20least%202%20hours%20or%20until%20doubled.%20*I%20often%20mix%20this%20up%20before%20leaving%20for%20work%20in%20the%20morning%20and%20let%20it%20sit%20on%20the%20counter%20all%20day%20until%20we%20get%20home%20around%20dinner%20time.%20The%20longer%20it%20sits,%20the%20better%20the%20flavor!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOnce%20the%20dough%20has%20doubled%20and%20you're%20ready%20to%20cook,%20cut%20the%20dough%20in%20half.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOn%20a%20floured%20surface,%20roll%20out%20the%20dough%20until%20it's%20about%201/4%20of%20an%20inch%20thick.%20Top%20with%20your%20favorite%20sauce%20and%20toppings%20and%20bake%20at%20475%20degrees%20for%2012-15%20minutes.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
