Receta Copycat Orange Milano Cookies
Copycat Orange Milano CookiesIs there anyone who doesn't love Milano cookies? Here's a really fast and easy version that uses sugar cookie mix!
This started with having a pouch of sugar cookie mix and not knowing what to do with it. Rather than the standard plain Christmas sugar cookies, I wanted to use it to do something different.
I'd always loved Pepperidge Farm's authentic version of these, but rarely buy because I just eat the whole darned package in one sitting...which isn't too good for my seat LOL!
Yesterday I had a couple of the real ones over by a neighbor and it struck me that all those cookies really are in essence is a thin sugar cookie--at least it tastes like it, but is less chewy and more crispy--and some chocolate ganache in the center.
Easy--uses a mixEureka, I can use my sugar cookie mix!!!!
Now you don't have to flavor the ganache with orange; you can leave it plain if you want. I just love chocolate and orange together and I did buy oranges this week, so the zest was available.
I chose to use the ganache I had left over to drizzle over the cookies, which I really liked, but if you think that's too much of a good thing, then don't bother doing it.
Either way, they are a great cookie with very few ingredients and super easy.
- Copycat Orange Milano Cookies 1 pouch (17 oz) sugar cookie mix (plus ingredients to make the mix)
- Ganache:
- 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup light cream
- 1 tsp grated orange zest
Make cookie mix as directed on package for rolled cookies. Bake as directed on package.
In a small saucepan, melt chocolate chips, cream and orange zest over low heat. Stir constantly until all lumps are gone and ganache is smooth.
Place about 1 or 2 tsp of the ganache on the underside of 1 cookie. Top with another cookie to make a sandwich. Squeeze sandwich cookie slightly so ganache fills the edges of the cookie. Repeat with the rest of the cookies.
If desired, drizzle remaining ganache over tops of the cookies.
Makes about 18-24 cookies, depending on the size cookie cutter used. I used a 2-inch cookie cutter.
