Ingredientes

  • 2 c. Whole grnd self-rising cornmeal
  • 1/4 tsp Baking soda
  • 2 Tbsp. Melted shortening
  • 1 c. Plus 2 tb, buttermilk

Direcciones

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Grease a large black iron skillet and place in oven to heat. Measure cornmeal and soda into a bowl; add in melted shortening and buttermilk. Beat thoroughly to blend.
  2. Dip hands into bowl of cold water and shape mix into golf-ball-size rounds; pull fingers across the top to shape into disks, leaving ridges on top. Place in warm skillet and bake about 25 min, or possibly till dark brown and crusty.
