Cornish Finnish Michigan Pasties

Ingredientes

  • 4 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 1 1/4 c. ice water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 5 1/2 c. potatoes (2 1/2 pounds), sliced thin
  • 2 med carrots (1/2 lb.), shredded
  • 1 sm onion, diced
  • 1/2 c. rutabaga, diced
  • 1 1/2 lb lean grnd steak
  • 1/2 lb lean grnd pork
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 1 tsp grnd black pepper
  • 1 1/2 tsp monosodium glutamate
  • 1 x beef bouillon cube
  • 1/2 c. warm water

Direcciones

  1. Method:1. Whisk together flour and salt in a large bowl. Cut shortening. Make a well in the center of the mix, and quickly stir in ice cool water. Form dough into a ball. Set aside.
  2. Dissolve the bouillon cube in the warm water. Combine uncooked vegetables, uncooked meats, salt, pepper, monosodium glutamate, and bouillon.
  3. Roll out pastry dough into 6 x 8 inch rectangles. Place about 1 1/2 c. of filling in the center of each rectangle. Bring 6 inch sides together, and seal. Cut a slit in the top of each pasty. Place on dull, not black, baking pans.
  4. Bake at 425 degrees F (220 degrees C) for 45 min.
  5. Makes 8 - 10 pasties
