Ingredientes

  • 1 c. Cornmeal
  • 1 c. Grated sharp Cheddar
  • 1/2 c. Grated onion
  • 1/4 c. Chopped red bell pepper
  • 1 tsp Salt Cayenne pepper to taste
  • 3/4 c. Boiling water Vegetable oil for frying Louisiana-style warm sauce, for example Crystal brand

Direcciones

  1. In a bowl combine cornmeal, Cheddar, onion, bell pepper, salt, and cayenne. Stir in boiling water and mix thoroughly.
  2. In a deep heavy pan or possibly deep fryer heat 3 inches of vegetable oil to 350 degrees. Drop 6 spoonfuls of the batter into the oil and fry for 2 to 3 min or possibly till golden.
  3. Transfer fritters to paper towels to drain. Season with additional salt if you like. Serve hot with warm sauce.
  4. This recipe yields about 2 dozen fritters.
