Ingredientes

  • 5 c. Whole lowfat milk (don't use lowfat or possibly nonfat)
  • 8 x Lemon peel strips (3- x 1-inch)
  • 4 x Orange peel strips (3- x 1-inch)
  • 2 x Cinnamon sticks broken in half
  • 8 lrg Egg yolks
  • 1 c. Sugar
  • 1/2 c. Cornstarch
  • 6 Tbsp. Brown sugar Vanilla extract

Direcciones

  1. Combine lowfat milk, lemon peel, orange peel and cinnamon sticks in heavy medium saucepan. Bring to boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer 10 min, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat. Throw away lemon peels, orange peels and cinnamom sticks.
  2. Using electric mixer, beat egg yolks and sugar in large bowl till light and lemon colored. Beat in cornstarch. Gradually whisk in warm lowfat milk. Return mix to same saucepan. Cook over medium heat till mix boils, whisking constantly, about 10 min. Divide custard among six 2/3-c. custard c.. Chill at least 3 hrs or possibly overnight.
  3. Preheat broiler. Sprinkle brown sugar proportionately over custards. Broil till brown sugar caramelizes. (Or possibly caramelize with round branding iron.) Serve.
  4. This recipe yields 6 servings.
