Ingredientes

  • 1/2 c. unsalted butter - (1 stick)
  • 1 c. brown sugar - (packed)
  • 2 Tbsp. corn syrup
  • 1 x round loaf Challah bread - (8" to 9" dia)
  • 5 lrg Large eggs
  • 1 1/2 c. half-and-half
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp Grand Marnier
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Direcciones

  1. In a small heavy saucepan heat butter with brown sugar and corn syrup over moderate heat, stirring, till smooth and pour into a 13- by 9- by 2-inch baking dish.
  2. Cut six 1-inch-thick slices from center portion of bread, reserving ends for another use, and trim crusts. Arrange bread slices in one layer in baking dish, squeezing them slightly to fit.
  3. In a bowl whisk together Large eggs, half-and-half, vanilla, Grand Marnier and salt till combined well and pour proportionately over bread. Refrigeratebread mix, covered, at least 8 hrs and up to 1 day.
  4. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and bring bread to room temperature. Bake bread mix, uncovered, in middle of oven till puffed and edges are pale golden brown, 35 to 40 min.
  5. This recipe yields 6 servings.
