Crockpot Beef Casserole With Savoury Pinwheels

Ingredientes

  • 500 gm beef topside, blade, chuck or possibly gravy beef
  • 2 x onions
  • 2 x cloves garlic
  • 1 c. beef stock
  • 1/4 c. tomato paste
  • 2 Tbsp. wine vinegar
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp grated orange rind
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 3 tsp baking pwdr
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 75 gm butter
  • 1/4 c. water, About
  • 1/4 c. orange marmalade
  • 1 tsp wholeseed mustard
  • 1 tsp wine vinegar

Direcciones

  1. Beef Casserole:Trim fat from meat and cut flesh into cubes.
  2. Peel and chop onions.
  3. Crush, peel and chop garlic.
  4. Place meat, onion, garlic, stock, tomato paste, vinegar, cumin and orange rind in the crockpot.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hrs.
  6. Thirty min before you are ready to serve, place pinwheels on top.
  7. Cover.
  8. Turn heat to high. Cook for 30 min or possibly till pinwheels are cooked.
  9. Savoury Pinwheels:Sift flour, baking pwdr and salt into a bowl.
  10. Rub in butter till mix resembles coarse crumbs.
  11. Add in sufficient water to create a soft dough.
  12. Roll out on a lightly floured board to 5 mm thickness.
  13. Mix marmalade, mustard and vinegar together. Spread over dough.
  14. Roll up as for a sponge roll and cut into 2 cm slices.
  15. NOTES : Use whatever tougher meat cut suits your budget or possibly what's on special. The pinwheels do away with the need for potatoes, rice or possibly pasta.
