%20and%20just%20this%20past%20weekend%E2%80%93pulled%20pork.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20secret%20to%20great%20pork%20is%20a%20great%20rub.%20I%20piled%20on%20spices,%20rubbed%20the%20meat%20and%20set%20it%20to%20chill%20overnight%20so%20the%20flavors%20would%20really%20seep%20in.%20A%20quick%20sear%20in%20the%20morning%20(smoke%20detectors%20disabled)%20then%20a%20leisurely%20cook%20in%20the%20crockpot%20all%20day%20long.%20Shred%20it,%20add%20some%20barbeque%20sauce%20and%20of%20course%20a%20kick%20ass%20slaw.%20I%20think%20it%E2%80%99s%20the%20slaw%20that%20really%20makes%20a%20great%20slider.%20The%20whole%20combination%20of%20a%20soft%20roll,%20juicy%20pork,%20smokey%20sauce%20and%20crunchy%20slaw%20really%20pulls%20it%20all%20together.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMy%20slaw%20of%20choice%20was%20filled%20with%20red%20cabbage,%20radishes,%20apples%20and%20carrots%20and%20brought%20together%20with%20a%20dressing%20of%20cider%20vinegar,%20honey,%20oil%20and%20just%20a%20touch%20of%20mayo.%20Even%20the%20slaw%20on%20its%20own,%20as%20a%20light%20salad%20is%20pretty%20delicious!%20Sadly,%20I%20can%20take%20no%20credit%20for%20this%20fantastic%20creation.%20It%20is%20all%20thanks%20to%20one%20of%20my%20favorite%20Australian%20blogger,%20Laura%E2%80%99s%20Mess.%20I%20one-and-a-halfed%20the%20recipe%20to%20assure%20I%20had%20plenty%20for%20the%205%20pounds%20of%20pulled%20pork%20I%20made%20plus%20had%20to%20substitute%20cider%20vinegar%20and%20honey%20separately%20for%20the%20Wescobee%20she%20spoke%20of%20(cider%20vinegar%20and%20honey%20in%20one%20product?%20Never%20seen%20it%20but%20want!).%20I%20can%20assure%20you%20that%20while%20the%20pulled%20pork%20is%20good,%20the%20slaw%20brings%20it%20to%20the%20level%20of%20major%20awesomeness.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMix%20all%20spices,%20brown%20sugar%20through%20cayenne%20pepper%20in%20a%20small%20bowl.%20Rub%20pork%20generously%20with%20spice%20rub%20(you%20want%20to%20use%20all%20of%20it!).%20Set%20in%20a%20small%20ceramic%20crock%20or%20roasting%20pan,%20cover%20with%20plastic%20wrap%20and%20refrigerate%20overnight%20or%20for%20at%20least%208%20hours.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20large%20dutch%20oven%20heat%20canola%20oil%20until%20very%20hot.%20Pat%20pork%20dry,%20being%20careful%20not%20to%20remove%20too%20much%20of%20the%20rub,%20add%20to%20dutch%20oven%20and%20sear%20all%20sides%20until%20charred%20and%20deep%20brown-black,%20about%205%20minutes%20per%20side.%20Meanwhile%20whisk%20together%20vinegar,%20water%20and%20tomato%20paste%20with%20any%20remaining%20marinade%20juices.%20Transfer%20pork%20to%20crockpot%20and%20pour%20over%20marinade%20mixture.%20Cook%20for%2010%20hours%20on%20low.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERemove%20pork%20from%20crockpot%20and%20shred%20on%20a%20cutting%20board%20using%20two%20large%20forks.%20Skim%20any%20fat%20from%20the%20liquid%20in%20the%20crockpot%20before%20returning%20shredded%20pork.%20Mix%20well%20so%20meat%20is%20fully%20saturated.%20Pork%20can%20be%20served%20immediately%20or%20refrigerated%20until%20ready%20to%20serve.%20Personally,%20I%20prefer%20letting%20it%20chill%20and%20marinate%20for%20another%20day%20to%20really%20seal%20in%20the%20flavors.%20When%20ready%20to%20enjoy,%20heat%20pork%20in%20a%20appropriate%20sized%20pot%20over%20low%20heat%20until%20warmed%20through.%20Add%20addition%20water%20if%20necessary.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20serve,%20spoon%20a%20generous%20pile%20of%20pork%20onto%20slider%20role,%20top%20with%20about%201%20tablespoon%20of%20barbeque%20sauce%20and%20generous%20spoonful%20of%20slaw.%20Enjoy%20with%20plenty%20of%20napkins%20(or%20a%20roll%20of%20paper%20towels)%20nearby.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELike%20Loading...%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
