Receta Cuban Black Beans
by Gregs Kitchen

I have been eating black beans and rice for so  many year.  I never knew how much I was missing by not making them Cuban Style.  My “Cuban Sis” Olga taught me her fathers way of making them and I will never eat them any other way again.  I am attaching below the video of her and I making a traditional Cuban Christmas Eve dinner so you can see how we did the Cuban beans.  Believe me, you are going to love these black beans.   Ingredients: 1 cans black beans 1 can water 1 smoked ham hock 2 tablespoons olive oil 1/2 large onion thinly sliced 1/2 cup diced green peppers 1/2 teaspoon cumin 1/2 teaspoon Adobo seasoning pinch salt and pepper to taste 3 strips salt pork – chopped 1 teaspoon garlic – minced 2-3 tablespoons of broth from the pork roast if you did one In medium pan heat the black beans, water and ham hock to boiling, reduce heat and simmer till ham hock breaks down (1-2 hours) In small pan add the olive oil over medium heat till oil is shimmering. Add sliced onions and peppers.  Cook till softened add cumin, Adobo, salt/pepper and salt pork Stir to combine and cook 2-3 minutes till salt pork is cooked Add garlic, stir and cook 1 minute. Add onion mixture to black beans and stir to combine If you did a pork roast, you can add the pork drippings now (optional) Serve over white rice.  12 total views,  12 views today You may like these recipes too: Stuffed Shells Sugar Free – Powdered Sugar Substitute White Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Lace Cookies Grandmas Old Fashioned Molasses Crinkle Cookies Grandma Jeans Butterscotch Pie Garlic Cauliflower
