%20gluten-%20and%20grain-free%20dessert.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGreat%20to%20keep...or%20to%20give%20away.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20recipe%20comes%20from%20my%20Secret%20Recipe%20Club%20assignment%20for%20October:%20%20the%20lovely%20blog%20of%20Mellissa%20of%20A%20Fit%20and%20Spicy%20Life.%20%20Mellissa%20and%20her%20husband%20live%20in%20Minneapolis,%20and%20when%20she's%20not%20working%20her%20day%20job%20as%20a%20marketing%20manager,%20she's%20loving%20on%20her%20sweet%20doggies,%20sipping%20on%20delicious%20wines,%20and%20cooking%20wonderful%20food.%20%20In%20addition%20to%20the%20treasure-trove%20of%20fantastic%20recipes,%20Mellissa's%20blog%20is%20chock-full%20of%20all%20sorts%20of%20wonderful%20workout-tips%20(Dive-Bomber%20push-ups,%20anyone?!)!%20%20I%20seriously%20watched%20the%20video%20and%20got%20on%20the%20floor%20and%20did...ONE.%20%20And%20then%20I%20died.%20%20:)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20scrolled%20through%20Mellissa's%20many%20wonderful%20recipes%20and%20settled%20on%20this%20delicious%20Chocolate%20%22Bark.%22%20%20(I%20guess%20it%20looks%20sort-of%20like%20tree%20bark,%20hence%20the%20age-old%20name?)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMellissa's%20recipe%20calls%20for%20a%20combo%20of%20semi-sweet%20and%20bittersweet%20chocolates.%20%20I%20used%20only%20bittersweet%20(60%25%20cocoa.).%20%20Also,%20she%20used%20almonds%20(I%20subbed%20pistachios)%20and%20dried%20cranberries%20(I%20forgot%20to%20add%20them!).%20%20I%20flip-flopped%20her%20method%20by%20putting%20the%20nut%20and%20fruit%20mixture%20down%20first%20and%20pouring%20the%20melted%20chocolate%20over.%20%20The%20end%20result%20is%20similar,%20but%20I%20believe%20her%20chocolate%20layer%20must%20have%20been%20much%20smoother%20than%20mine%20turned%20out%20to%20be.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPistachios,%20Dried%20Cherries,%20and%20Bittersweet%20Chocolate.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMelt%20the%20chocolate%20in%20a%20homemade%20double%20boiler%20(saucepan%20filled%20with%20simmering%20water,%20topped%20with%20a%20bowl%20with%20the%20chocolates).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EArrange%20the%20dried%20cherries%20and%20pistachios%20on%20a%20parchment-lined%20baking%20sheet%20and%20pour%20over%20the%20melted%20chocolate.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAllow%20it%20to%20%22set%22%20for%20about%202%20hours.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EVoila.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20broke%20it%20into%20pieces,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20put%20it%20in%20jars%20so%20I%20can%20GIVE%20IT%20AWAY%20instead%20of%20scarfing%20down%20the%20whole%20batch.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHere's%20the%20funny%20part%20about%20this%20recipe:%20%20as%20I%20was%20breaking%20the%20bark%20into%20pieces,%20I%20had%20a%20deja%20vu%20moment.%20%20I%20HAVE%20MADE%20THIS%20VERY%20RECIPE%20BEFORE%20from%20another%20SRC-er's%20blog!!%20%20Katherine%20Martinelli%20has%20a%20delicious%20Pistachio,%20Cherry%20and%20Dark%20Chocolate%20Bark%20recipe.%20%20I%20think%20her%20recipe%20was%20why%20I%20subconsciously%20swapped%20the%20almonds%20for%20the%20pistachios...I%20love%20the%20color%20contrast.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnyway---I%20really%20hope%20you%20are%20inspired%20to%20make%20this%20yummy%20stuff.%20%20And%20please%20swing%20by%20Mellissa's%20blog!%20%20It's%20a%20real%20treat!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDark%20Chocolate%20and%20Cherry%20%22Bark%22%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMakes%20a%2010%22%20x%2010%22%20square...yield%20depends%20on%20size%20each%20piece%20is%20broken%20into%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMelt%20the%20chocolate%20by%20placing%20it%20in%20a%20bowl%20over%20a%20saucepan%20filled%20with%20simmering%20water.%20%20(Or%20use%20a%20double%20boiler.)%20%20Stir%20occasionally%20while%20the%20chocolate%20melts%20(about%2010%20minutes).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELine%20a%20baking%20sheet%20with%20parchment%20or%20waxed%20paper.%20%20Spread%20the%20dried%20cherries%20and%20chopped%20pistachios%20into%20about%20a%2010%22%20x%2010%22%20square.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPour%20the%20chocolate%20over%20the%20nuts%20and%20fruit%20in%20as%20even%20a%20layer%20as%20possible.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAllow%20the%20%22bark%22%20to%20rest%20for%20about%202%20hours%20(time%20will%20depend%20on%20temperature%20of%20room).%20%20When%20set,%20break%20into%20pieces%20and%20serve.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStore%20in%20an%20airtight%20container.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERecipe%20from%20here%20and%20here.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
