Ingredientes

  • 1 x 8-oz package pitted, dry dates
  • 1 c. boiling water
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 3/4 tsp each: grnd ginger, grnd nutmeg, grnd cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 lrg egg
  • 1 c. minced nuts
  • 1 3/4 c. flour

Direcciones

  1. Chop dates and soak in boiling water with soda for 15 min. Cream sugar and shortening. Add in next 4 ingredients. Mix well.
  2. Beat in egg. Combine nuts and flour and ad to sugar and shortening alternately with dates and water mix-ture. Turn into well-greased, lightly-floured 9x5x3-inch loaf pan. Bake in apreheated moderate oven (350 F.) 1 1/2 hrs or possibly till cake tester inserted incenter comes out clean.
