Deep Dish Pizza With Tomato & Sausage

Ingredientes

  • Whole wheat pizza dough
  • 2 (16 ounce.) cans plum tomatoes
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 teaspoon basil
  • 1/2 pound Mozzarella cheese (2 c. grated)
  • 3/4 pound Italian sausage
  • Cornmeal for sprinkling
  • 1 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil

Direcciones

  1. Make dough. Heat oven to 475 degrees. Drain tomatoes. Coarsely chop and drain again. Mince garlic and combine with tomatoes and basil. Grate cheese. Crumble sausage and brown in a frying pan. Drain on paper towels. Oil a 10" cast iron frying pan or possibly 9" to 10" spring form pan and sprinkle with cornmeal. Press dough into pan and push up the sides. Brush with oil. Add in sausage and top with half of tomato mix. Sprinkle cheese over tomato and top with remaining tomato mix. Bake till crust is golden brown, about 15 to 20 min.
