Are you a brand-new vaper or someone who wishes to switch from cigarette smoking? I bet you are in a dilemma and do not know what to choose from such a massive variety of different types of e-liquids at first. Well, this is a global problem for everybody at the beginning of their vaping journey. Don’t worry, today we are going to make a brief introduction to the different types of e-liquids that you can easily find in vape shops.

Please keep in mind, our goal is to find suitable vape juices for ourselves. Welcome to our blog on different types of e-liquids! If you're new to vaping, the wide range of e-liquids available can be overwhelming. In this blog, we'll provide a quick introduction to some of the most popular types of e-liquids on the market.

What is E-liquid?

Firstly, I want you to understand that e-liquid, vape juice, and e-juice all refer to the same thing, a type of liquid vapourized into an aerosol by an electronic heating device. What is it composed of? Unlike cigarette and tobacco, which contains over 4,000 chemicals, including 43 carcinogenic substances and 400 other toxins, e-liquid's components are rather simple: PG (Propylene Glycol), VG (Vegetable Glycerin), Nicotine, and flavourings. Those terms seem technical, but you simply need to understand that PG and VG can make a mass cloud/vapour, and more specifically, PG brings the flavour, and VG is thicker and produces more vapour than PG. And it would bring you more "throat hit" sensation if it contains more PG in the vape juice. Above is the quick intro of "what is e-liquid," and below, we go to the next episode.

Various Sorts Of E-liquids

The most excellent advantage of vaping is that there are countless flavours leaving you to choose. It's a bit ludicrous for its different flavours compared to traditional cigarettes, which only have tobacco/menthol flavour. What's more, vaping hardly leaves any odd scent on your body or clothes. On the contrary, some fresh fruit flavours would give you a pleasant scent. However, we are not talking about the flavour but the kind.

Please note that "kinds" here are not the significance of flavours. Generally speaking, we categorize vape juice into the following types: Shortfill, Nic Salt, Nicotine Shot, 50-50 E-liquid, High VG E-liquid, and DIY&C concentrate.

Nic Salt

Nic Salt e-liquid is a whole new way to vape. It is similar to pure nicotine, but it's extracted directly from the tobacco leaf. Nic salt-based e-juices are absorbed by the body much faster than traditional freebase nicotine vape juice, providing a quicker hit to keep those pesky nicotine cravings at bay. Compared to freebase nicotine, nic salt has several benefits, including faster nicotine delivery to your blood and brain, technically cheaper, smoother hit, and longer lifespan. Nic salt vape juice typically comes in various flavours, including but not limited to fruits, candies, and beverages. It is worth noting that nic salt e-liquids are often used for MTL vape devices such as disposable vapes and pod systems, and the popular disposable vapes are pre-filled with nic salt e-liquid like Elf Bar, Elux Bar, Lost Mary, and so on.

50-50 E-liquid

50/50 e-liquid is vape juice with a balanced 50% ratio of PG (propylene glycol) and VG (vegetable glycerin). These ingredients are crucial in helping you choose the best type of e-liquid for your vape pod/mod system. 50/50 vape juice is the ideal place to start when making the switch from traditional smoking to vaping. 50VG/50PG e-juice is highly compatible with starter kits, providing a smooth throat hit and loads of flavours.

High VG E-liquid

High VG e-liquid refers to the level of VG (vegetable glycerin) present in the vaping liquid. This type of e-liquid usually has a 70VG/30PG or 80VG/20PG ratio, typically mixed with lower nicotine strength (0mg, 3mg, and 6mg). High VG e-liquids are ideal for sub-ohm vaping devices, providing massive and cloudy vapour production and a smooth throat hit.

Shortfill

Shortfill e-liquids are nicotine-free and packed in larger containers, including 50ml and 100ml bottles that are just filled to 80% capacity. The remaining space allows you to add a 10ml nicotine shot (or more) to increase to your desired nicotine strength. As these e-liquids are created to have a nicotine shot added, they have a slightly higher percentage of flavouring so the end e-liquid isn't over-diluted.

But why there needs to be a non-nicotine vape juice? Shortfill e-liquids were first introduced to the market in 2017 following the implementation of TPD compliance. Before the new regulations, you were able to buy larger bottles of e-liquid that contained nicotine. However, the TPD limits any nicotine-containing e-liquids to a maximum size of 10ml. Therefore, shortfills were created as a way to keep the convenience and cost-saving of larger bottles while keeping compliant with the TPD laws.

Pure Nicotine Shot (Nic Shot)

First up, we have Pure Nicotine Shot, also known as Nic Shot. This is an unflavoured e-liquid designed to be used with shortfill e-liquids. Nic Shots come in small 10ml TPD certified bottles of pure nicotine e-liquid. They are not intended to be vaped on their own but rather mixed with larger bottles of nicotine-free e-liquid, especially shortfills. Nic Shots can also be used for discreet vaping, topping up on nicotine, or diluting a juice. For instance, adding a 10ml 18mg booster to a 50ml shortfill will create 60ml of 3mg e-liquid.

DIY & Concentrate

Last but not least, we have DIY & Concentrate e-liquids. If you have the creativity and desire to make your own e-juices, this product can help you create intense concentrated flavours of vape juices. There are several benefits to DIY & Concentrate vape juices, including a cheaper option to vape juice without sacrificing superior quality, the ability to control your flavour strength by adjusting the amount of flavouring used, and the fact that 5ml of DIY flavour concentrate blends about 50ml e-Liquid. There are various ready-to-mix & vape flavours for you to enjoy, and you can create your own flavour combinations and recipes.

Verdict

In conclusion, there are many different types of e-liquids available to cater to every vaper's preferences. Whether you want a non-nicotine vape juice or high nicotine strength e-liquid, a smokeless e-liquid, or one that creates massive cloud production, there is a suitable e-liquid for you.
