Who can go through the holidays without a few cocktails?

Not this girl!

With all the shopping, parties, baking and shopping, there is bound to be a little stress. And with stress, there comes a night with close friends and a few cocktails.

Tonight I am getting together with a bunch of friends that I still very close with from high school. We get together all thoughtout the year but around the holidays we always make sure to have our annual Ugly Sweater Christmas Party!

Yes, you heard me right. This means that every gets together for the holidays with appetizers, snacks and drinks in our ugly Christmas sweaters, mostly found at old consignment shops or in our parents attic from the 60's and 70's. It's always a good time to see what everyone wears and who can actually find the tackiest sweater or outfit.

We also play the traditional Yankee Swap game, also known as Chinese grab bag, and it's such a blast. Everyone brings a $20 gift to go into the middle pot, you take numbers and in order starting at one, you can grab a gift from the middle or steal someone else's gift all until everyone has a present.

It's a really fun game, especially with a long time group like us, but it's always in good holiday spirits.

So I have been making a bunch of fun goodies in my kitchen over the past couple of weeks, including some delicious DIY gifts to hand out to family and friends. This specific treat wasn't one that I had planned on giving as a gift but instead wanted to bring with to my friends party for all to enjoy, but who says you can't bottle this beautiful blend up and give to friends and family.

If you were planning on giving this as a gift, it would look beautiful with ribbons tied around and possible add a cocktail-drink recipe tag to it. This liquor would be fabulous as a Cran'tini or simply add with Tonic Soda for a fabulous cocktail.

So go head, kick up your feet and relax with a fun, fruity and festive drink that can be put together in minutes. Bring it to a party, gift it for friends and family, or just keep it all to yourself and get CHEERY!

It's the festivous for the rest-of-us!!!

Cranberry Lime Rum

Recipe adopted by Fancy Napkin

Ingredients

First you take the cranberries and poke a hole in each one with a pin or sharp knife. It sounds labour intensive but its really not so bad. I watched my boyfriend and his sister sing Christmas songs while I poked holes in the cranberries. Start to put the finished cranberries into your jar, but only fill up a third of the way.

Next, using a knife, peel off the lime rind and place them into your jar with your cranberries. Fill the jar up to the the top with cranberries.

Next, you need to add a little bit of sugar to cancel out the bitterness of the cranberries. You don't want to make the rum sweet so add less than 2 tbsp of sugar to begin with {less if you have a a small jar}. Now you can pour the rum on top of the cranberry/lime/sugar mixture, seal the jar, and give it a good shake.

Give the jar a good shaking every day or two to make sure the sugar mixes throughout. You can let your infused rum sit for anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months.

FYI: The longer you leave it the sweeter it'll be.

Enjoy!
