- Peel and core apples. Slice the apples in 1/3 inch thick round slices. Put together dry ingredients, add in egg to lowfat milk and gradually add in to dry ingredients. Mix well for 2 to 3 min. Dip apple slices in batter and deep fry in hot shortening for 1 to 2 min or possibly till golden. Sprinkle with powdered sugar. Serve warm or possibly cold.
