Receta Easter Egg Nests
Easter will be here in a few weeks!
As an early celebration of sorts, I thought these would
be a neat project to make with
my kiddos this weekend.
The way these are made highly resembles Rice Krispie Treats.
We always have a pack or two of roman noodles
on hand due to my daughter's obsession with them…
so we stuck with using those for the base.
However, using Rice Krispie cereal
(Husband Man's preference) or even dried
chow mein noodles would work just as well.
These are the perfect little things to make to
usher in Easter and spring ;)
Enjoy!!
(makes 20 nests)
Ingredients:
- 1 bag (10 oz.) mini marshmallows
- 5 tbsp. unsalted butter
- 4 cups dry roman noodles (or dry chow mein noodles or Rice Krispie Cereal)
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- Colored Easter egg candies (we used Brach's)
- Crisco shortening to coat hands
Directions:
1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
2. Melt the 5 tbsp. of unsalted butter in a medium saucepan over low heat.
3. Pour in the mini marshmallows. Stir constantly until the marshmallows are completely melted and are of a smooth consistency.
4. Stir in the vanilla extract and 4 cups of noodles or cereal.
5. Remove from heat and let cool for a few minutes.
6. Take a little spoonful of the Crisco shortening and coat your hands.
7. Take about 1/4 cup of the noodles and roll them into a ball. Place each ball on the baking sheet to let cool.
8. Once the balls are cooled, shape each one into a nest by pressing your thumb down the middle and molding/shaping the sides.
9. Place 3 or 4 Easter egg candies inside each nest. Place aside until ready to serve.
