Ingredientes

  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 1/4 c. hot water
  • 1 3/4 c. hot lowfat milk
  • 8 c. flour
  • 1 c. butter, softened
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 4 Large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Grated rind of 1/2 a lemon
  • 1/2 c. nuts, minced
  • 1 c. white raisins
  • 6 hard cooked Large eggs, colored or possibly plain

Direcciones

  1. Dissolve yeast in hot water. Add in the lowfat milk and 1 c. of flour; set aside to rise in hot place. Cream butter, sugar, and the Large eggs, one at a time. Stir well after each egg. Add in salt, lemon rind, nuts, raisins, remaining flour, and the yeast. Mix well; turn out on board and knead till dough is smooth and elastic. Form into desired shape, reserving a bit of dough for later use. Place 2 Large eggs in top of each loaf and cover each with 2 strips of the reserved dough. Let rise in hot place till loaves have doubled in size. Brush tops with egg yolk and bake at 375 degrees about 45 min. Makes 3 good size loaves.
