Egg and Grit Casserole

This is a satisfying egg recipe using a Southern favorite – grits! Serve with a meat or vegetable as a meal or put on your breakfast buffet. I served with a family favorite – shrimp.

Ingredientes

  • 6 cups water
  • 1 ½ cups grits
  • 1 teaspoons Old Bay seasoning
  • 2 teaspoons dried onion
  • 2 teaspoons garlic salt
  • 4 oz margarine
  • 7 oz can chopped green chiles
  • 5 beaten eggs
  • 1 lb shredded cheddar

Direcciones

  1. Preheat oven to 350 and grease a 9×12 casserole.
  2. Boil water, add grits, reduce to med-low and stir until thickened (10-12 mins).
  3. Stir in seasonings, margarine, chiles and beaten eggs. Stir and cook 2-3 mins.
  4. Stir in ½ of the cheese.
  5. Pour into the casserole dish.
  6. Top with the remaining cheese.
  7. Bake 40 minutes.
  8. Look how wonderful this looks when it comes out of the oven!
