Egg Custard Pie

This is a recipe I got from a friend, I have not tried it yet, But I've made it for the holidays and every one liked it.

Ingredientes

  • 1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust
  • 3 eggs beaten
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg white
  • 2 1/2 cups scalded milk
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 3 drops yellow food coloring (optional)

Direcciones

  1. preheat oven to 400 degrees
  2. mix together eggs, sugar, salt, and vanilla stir well
  3. blend in the scalded milk
  4. for more yellow color add few drops of yellow food coloring
  5. line pie pan with pastry and brush inside bottom and sides of shell with egg white to help prevent a soggy crust
  6. pour custard mixture into pie crust
  7. sprinkle with nutmeg
  8. bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until you can insert a knife in center and it come out clean
  9. cool on rack before serving
