Receta Fancy Hearts Jelly
I really love this pretty Fancy Hearts silicone mould that Sarah-Jane of SiliconeMoulds.Com sent to me. The very first thing that came to my mind was to make jelly with this mould. Jelly desserts are especially refreshing for humid weather like Singapore. And they are fun to eat when made in individual moulds and great for children's party too. Look how pretty the jelly turned out from the silicone mould with the little red hearts on top This is a very simple recipe (makes 5 ) 1 packet (13g) Agar agar powder 800ml Water 180-200g Sugar 200ml Coconut milk 2-3 Pandan leaves - tie leaves into a small knot In a pot add 800ml water, sugar and agar agar powder together and bring to boil. Keep stirring the agar agar liquid constantly until boil at medium heat and then pour in the coconut milk, stir the liquid till boil again and off heat. Discard pandan leaves and stirring it for another 2-3 minutes. Put agar agar liquid under double boiler or at low heat to prevent agar agar liquid set quickly~stir occasionally. Place silicone moulds on a baking tray before filling as support Using a scissors to cut the straw to about 3 inches length or buy a new syringe at the pharmacy (I have one, of course for kitchen uses only LOL! but just don't remember where I put it). Pour some plain agar agar liquid into a small bowl and add some red coloring into it and mix well. Working quickly, dip the straw into the red coloring liquid and place your finger firmly on the top of the opening of the straw, any liquid that is in it will stay there and the liquid will falls out into the little hearts once you release your finger. Then mix the remaining agar agar liquid into two or three color (any color you prefer, I used white, green and orange), keep the liquid warm in a double boiler to prevent the agar agar set quickly. Add about 3-4 tablespoon of agar agar liquid into the silicone mould, wait till the agar agar liquid set before adding the next layer of colored liquid on top. **Using a small knife gently scratch the agar agar before adding another color on top. This method is to make the agar agar jelly sticks together. After finishing the layers, put agar agar jelly in the fridge to chill for few hours before serve. Once the jelly has set, upturned silicone mould onto plate and pull the sides to release the jelly from the mould. Beautiful! Thanks Sarah-Jane :)) A party is not a party without jelly :)) Please check on SiliconeMoulds.Com for more amazing silicone moulds or drop a line at Sarah-Jane's blog for more details.
