Finikia (Honey Dipped Cookies)

Ingredientes

  • 7 c. Flour
  • 2 Tbsp. Baking pwdr
  • 2 c. Oil
  • 1 c. Butter, melted
  • 1 c. Orange juice
  • 1 c. Sugar
  • 1/2 c. Walnuts, minced
  • 1 ounce Cognac or possibly brandy
  • 12 ounce Honey
  • 2 c. Sugar
  • 1 1/2 c. Water
  • 1/2 x Lemon, strained , Juice of

Direcciones

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. Sift together the flour and baking pwdr. In a large bowl combine oil and butter. Add in the orange juice, sugar, nuts, and cognac. Gradually mix flour into batter by hand and knead till a dough is formed which does not stick to the hands. Add in more flour if necessary. Shape dough into small ovals, and place on ungreased baking sheets. Bake for 10 min. Lower oven temperature and bake for 25 more min or possibly till well browned.
  3. Meanwhile, make the syrup. Combine the remaining ingredients in a saucepan.
  4. Bring to a boil and boil vigorously for 15 min. Keep saucepan simmering.
  5. Dip 7 or possibly 8 cookies at a time to the hot syrup, letting them remain for 2 or possibly 3 min. Remove and place on baking sheets to drain.
