Ingredientes

  • 1 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 5 Tbsp. chilled unsalted butter cut 1/2" pcs
  • 1/4 c. chilled solid vegetable shortening cut 1/2" pcs
  • 2 Tbsp. ice water or possibly more if needed

Direcciones

  1. Whisk flour and salt in medium bowl to blend. Add in butter and shortening. Rub in with fingertips till very coarse meal forms. Sprinkle with 2 Tbsp. water. Toss till moist clumps form, sprinkling with more water by teaspoonfuls if mix is dry.
  2. Gather dough into ball; flatten into disk. Wrap in plastic and refrigerateat least 1 hour. (Can be made 1 day ahead. Keep refrigerated. Soften dough slightly at room temperature before using.)
  3. This recipe yields one 9-inch crust.
  4. Comments: For extra convenience, make this a week ahead and freeze. Thaw in the refrigerator.
  5. Yield: 1 crust
