I wish my mom were here. As an old home ec. teacher, she knows the answer to everything. I have called her a couple of times during Peach-palooza, but if she were here visiting, it would have saved me lots of time on the internet.

%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhen%20we%20purchased%20our%20peaches%20at%20Livesay%20Orchards,%20we%20were%20cautioned%20about%20the%20White%20County%20Peaches.%20%20%20%E2%80%9CDo%20not%20freeze%20these!%E2%80%9D%20we%20were%20told%20over%20and%20over.%20%20%20%E2%80%9CThey%20can%20fine%20but%20do%20NOT%20freeze%20them;%20they%20will%20turn%20brown.%E2%80%9D%20%20%20Okay,%20I%20will%20take%20this%20caveat%20from%20the%20experts.%20%20%20%20I%20made%20jam%20with%20most%20of%20the%20white%20peaches,%20but%20I%20had%20a%20ton%20of%20the%20GloHavens%20left.%20%20%20I%20needed%20to%20freeze%20some%20of%20those.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20think%20the%20last%20time%20I%20froze%20peaches%20we%20were%20working%20in%20mom%E2%80%99s%20make%20shift%20canning%20area%20in%20the%20garage.%20%20%20This%20had%20to%20be%20over%20twenty%20years%20ago.%20%20%20(OK,%20I%20should%20be%20honest,%20it%20was%20probably%20more%20like%2030%20years%20ago%E2%80%94YIKES!).%20%20%20%20Mom%20had%20a%20sweet%20set%20up%20in%20our%20garage%20where%20she%20had%20a%20gas%20range%20and%20a%20full%20double-sided%20old%20time%20sink%20with%20the%20drain%20boards%20built%20in.%20%20%20%20(Always%20the%20bargain%20hunter%20I%20think%20the%20range%20was%20a%20steal%20from%20a%20farm%20auction%20and%20that%20old%20time%20cast%20iron%20sink%20came%20out%20of%20our%20original%20farm%20house%20that%20mom%20soon%20remodeled%20after%20moving%20in.)%20%20%20%20It%20was%20great%20to%20not%20have%20to%20heat%20the%20house%20up%20when%20processing%20fruit%20and%20it%20saved%20a%20lot%20on%20clean%20up%20too.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnyhoo,%20I%20digress.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20wanted%20to%20freeze%20the%20remainder%20of%20the%20peaches%20so%20I%20searched%20the%20internet.%20%20%20Apparently,%20to%20keep%20peaches%20from%20turning%20brown%20you%20must%20use%20ascorbic%20acid%20or%20Fruit%20Fresh%20and%20LOTS%20of%20sugar.%20%20%20%20I%20don%E2%80%99t%20mind%20telling%20you%20that%20I%20was%20about%20sugared%20out%20with%20all%20the%20jam%20making.%20%20%20%20%20So,%20I%20finally%20found%20some%20directions%20for%20freezing%20without%20a%20simple%20syrup%E2%80%94use%20white%20grape%20juice.%20%20%20%20Luckily,%20I%20had%20some%20of%20this%20juice%20left%20over%20from%20my%20low-sugar%20blackberry%20jam%20experiments.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20quickly%20started%20blanching%20and%20peeling%20my%20last%20batch.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThese%20are%20super%20easy%20directions.%20%20%20%20%20Just%20peel%20the%20fruit%20and%20submerge%20in%20white%20grape%20fruit%20juice%20(I%20used%20the%20low-sugar%20kind)%20and%20Fruit%20Fresh.%20%20%20Here%E2%80%99s%20the%20ratio:%20%20%201%20t.%20fruit%20fresh%20per%201%20cup%20of%20white%20grape%20juice.%20%20%20Seal%20in%20freezer%20containers.%20%20%20The%20more%20air%20you%20can%20remove,%20the%20better.%20%20%20If%20you%20have%20a%20seal-a-meal,%20use%20it!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIsn%E2%80%99t%20the%20color%20beautiful?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELet%20me%20tell%20you,%20these%20peaches%20looked%20beautiful.%20%20%20%20I%20can%E2%80%99t%20wait%20to%20defrost%20them%20and%20make%20a%20pie%20or%20cobbler%20or%20simply%20put%20them%20over%20ice%20cream%20this%20winter.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20you%20remember,%20this%20is%20what%20I%20started%20out%20with.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20beginnings.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20is%20what%20I%20ended%20up%20with.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20end%E2%80%94just%20for%20eating.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBut,%20Peach-palooza%20is%20not%20over.%20%20%20No,%20no,%20no.%20%20%20We%20are%20now%20picking%20white%20peaches%20off%20our%20own%20tree!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStay%20tuned%20for%20a%20few%20more%20palooza%20inspired%20recipes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELike%20Loading...%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
