%20and%20has%20a%20fabulous%20flavour%20and%20colour.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20challenge%20was%20to%20come%20up%20with%20a%20recipe%20that%20was%20not%20Oriental%20in%20nature%20.%20.%20.%20hmmm%20.%20.%20.%20I%20am%20awfully%20fond%20of%20using%20it%20in%20stir%20fries%20and%20such%20.%20.%20.%20and%20I%20always%20like%20to%20give%20my%20Chinese%20takeaway%20a%20liberal%20splash%20of%20the%20stuff%20.%20.%20.%20but%20.%20.%20.%20could%20I%20possibly%20do%20it?%20%20%20Let's%20see%20.%20.%20.%20%20I%20came%20up%20with%20several%20.%20.%20.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOne%20of%20my%20favourite%20things%20has%20always%20been%20the%20Beef%20Dip%20Sandwich.%20%20%20This%20is%20a%20sandwich%20%20composed%20of%20shaved%20roast%20beef%20in%20a%20toasted%20baguette%20that%20you%20dip%20in%20a%20hearty%20beef%20broth%20to%20eat.%20%20%20Scrummo!%20%20%20I%20love%20em!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20also%20love%20a%20good%20burger%20.%20.%20.%20who%20doesn't.%20%20%20I%20decided%20to%20combine%20the%20two,%20and%20created%20a%20hearty%20burger%20served%20up%20in%20toasted%20French%20Bread%20with%20a%20beef%20broth%20dip.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20used%20the%20low%20salt%20Soy%20Sauce%20in%20both%20the%20meat%20mix%20for%20the%20burger%20and%20in%20the%20broth%20for%20the%20dip.%20%20It%20turned%20out%20to%20be%20quite,%20quite%20delicious.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENot%20only%20was%20it%20quite%20delicious%20.%20.%20.%20but%20it%20was%20quite%20simply%20very%20easy%20to%20execute%20as%20well,%20AND%20economical%20too!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHearty,%20filling,%20economical%20and%20easy.%20%20You%20just%20can't%20get%20better%20than%20that!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E*French%20Dip%20Burgers*%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EServes%204%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20restaurant%20favourite%20served%20up%20at%20home%20with%20a%20delicious%20twist!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20package%20of%20dry%20onion%20soup%20mix%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E(If%20you%20can't%20get%20the%20family%20sized%20packet,%20use%20three%20single%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eserving%20size%20packets)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1/2%20tsp%20ground%20black%20pepper%20or%20to%20taste%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2%20cloves%20of%20garlic,%20peeled%20and%20crushed%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2%20TBS%20Kikkoman%20low%20salt%20soy%20sauce%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20pound%20of%20extra%20lean%20minced%20steak%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E8%20(1/2%20inch%20thick)%20pieces%20of%20French%20Bread,%20sliced%20on%20the%20diagonal%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Esoftened%20butter%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20the%20Dip:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E250ml%20of%20boiling%20water%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20beef%20stock%20pot%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20TBS%20Kikkoman%20low%20salt%20soy%20sauce%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ecracked%20black%20pepper%20to%20taste%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Echopped%20fresh%20parsley%20and%20sliced%20dill%20pickles%20for%20garnish%20(optional)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHeat%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ethe%20grill%20or%20broiler%20in%20your%20oven%20to%20high.%20%20Combine%20the%20water,%20stock%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Epot,%20soy%20sauce%20and%20pepper%20in%20a%20small%20saucepan.%20%20Bring%20to%20the%20boil,%20then%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ekeep%20warm%20at%20a%20low%20simmer%20until%20you%20are%20ready%20to%20eat.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Emedium%20bowl,%20combine%20the%20minced%20steak,%20soup%20mix,%20soy%20sauce,%20garlic%20and%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eblack%20pepper.%20%20%20Mix%20together%20well%20and%20then%20divide%20into%204%20equal%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eportions.%20%20Pate%20each%20portion%20lightly%20into%20an%20oval%20shaped%20patty%20about%201/2%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Einch%20thick%20and%20large%20enough%20to%20cover%20the%20bread.%20%20Place%20the%20patties%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eunder%20the%20broiler%20and%20broil%20for%205%20to%206%20minutes%20per%20side%20until%20nicely%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ebrowned%20and%20thoroughly%20cooked,%20turning%20once.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhile%20the%20meat%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Epatties%20are%20grilling,%20toast%20the%20bread%20and%20butter%20them%20on%20one%20side.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20each%20patty%20between%20two%20slices%20of%20toast,%20buttered%20side%20out%20and%20cut%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ein%20half%20on%20the%20diagonal.%20%20Place%20two%20halves%20onto%20each%20of%20four%20heated%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eplates%20along%20with%20a%20small%20bowl%20of%20the%20dip%20for%20each.%20%20Garnish%20with%20some%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Esliced%20dills%20and%20chopped%20parsley%20if%20desired.%20%20Serve%20immediately.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20second%20recipe%20which%20I%20came%20up%20with%20was%20these%20delicious%20appetizer%20meatballs.%20%20I%20have%20seen%20a%20lot%20of%20recipes%20for%20appetizer%20meatballs%20through%20the%20years%20which%20make%20use%20of%20chili%20sauce%20and%20jam,%20melted%20together%20to%20glaze%20them.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20created%20my%20own%20sauce%20for%20these%20using%20honey,%20tomato%20ketchup,%20Worcestershire%20Sauce,%20Mustard,%20horseradish,%20garlic%20and%20.%20.%20.%20Soy%20sauce!%20%20(Natch!)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThey're%20zippy,%20easy%20and%20very%20tasty%20if%20I%20don't%20say%20so%20myself.%20%20The%20recipe%20makes%20enough%20for%20two%20to%20three%20servings,%20but%20amounts%20can%20be%20very%20easily%20multiplied%20to%20make%20more%20for%20a%20larger%20crowd.%20%20Enjoy!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E*Deviled%20Appetizer%20Meatballs*%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMakes%202%20to%203%20servings%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESimple%20to%20make%20and%20delicious%20with%20a%20zippy%20%20honey%20and%20tomato%20glaze!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20the%20meatballs:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20the%20oven%20to%20200*C/400*F/%20gas%20mark%206.%20%20Have%20ready%20a%20small%20shallow%20casserole%20dish.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMix%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eall%20of%20the%20meatball%20ingredients%20together%20lightly%20in%20a%20bowl.%20%20Shape%20into%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E16%20balls.%20%20%20Spray%20a%20non%20stick%20frying%20pan%20with%20some%20cooking%20spray%20and%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ebrown%20the%20meatballs%20carefully%20on%20all%20sides.%20%20Place%20them%20into%20the%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ecasserole%20dish.%20%20Pour%20all%20of%20the%20ingredients%20for%20the%20sauce%20into%20the%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Efrying%20pan.%20%20Bring%20to%20the%20boil%20and%20then%20pour%20over%20top%20of%20the%20meatballs%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ein%20the%20dish,%20turning%20them%20to%20coat%20them%20with%20the%20sauce.%20%20Bang%20the%20dish%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Einto%20the%20oven%20and%20allow%20to%20cook%20for%2015%20to%2020%20minutes%20until%20the%20meatballs%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eare%20well%20glazed%20and%20the%20sauce%20has%20thickened%20nicely.%20%20%20Serve%20hot.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMany%20thanks%20to%20Kikkoman%20for%20providing%20me%20with%20these%20sauces%20and%20for%20coming%20up%20with%20this%20blogger%20challenge!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
